About the Author

The second confirmed author speaking at the 2013 Unconvention is Chris Nickson who has close links to our host city having been born and brought up in Leeds. At the age of 21 he moved to America, returning to the UK 30 years later and planning to finally return to his home town later this year. His first published novel, now the first in a series of books featuring character Richard Nottingham, is set in the 1700s and features the crime-solving adventures of the Constable of Leeds. It was named as one of the Independent’s audiobooks of the year in 2012.

In addition to his Leeds based books, Chris has published crime thrillers based in Seattle and Chesterfield and has been writing celebrity biographies since the 1990s mostly focussed on musical subjects. Chris has chosen the Leeds Unconvention as the venue to launch his latest book Fair & Tender Ladies, the next instalment in his series set in Leeds featuring Richard Nottingham.

In addition to being a prolific author, Chris is an accomplished musician and much of his work has combined his enjoyment of both music and writing in the field of music journalism.
