As has now become traditional at the Unconvention, Leeds will offer the chance to win some fantastic themed prizes in the raffle. Every prize contains at least one BookCrossing registered book along with at least one other item themed to tie in with it.

A small taster of the prizes on offer at this year’s event is described below. Visit Room 1 during the Uncon weekend to see the full selection of prizes in person. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase during registration or on request from one of the committee during the weekend. The draw and prize giving will be made at the end of Saturday afternoon.

At the time of writing we have at least 14 planned raffle prizes, with one or two more which we hope to pull together before the event. As always the committee have been overwhelmed by the generosity of attendees to the event in donating raffle prizes and other items – although we cannot thank you all here, we would like to extend deepest thanks to every BookCrosser who has offered a donation.

Prize Themes

Owl Prizes

With a BallyOwl mascot, an owl themed release walk and our Owl Competition you can expect to see a lot of owls during your visit to Leeds. The raffle is no exception, with a number of the themed prizes incorporating an owlish element. Items include owl bags, official BallyOwl merchandise, owl related books, and even a Wise Owl prize for the big thinkers.

Chocolate Dragon Prize

The designer of BallyOwl ApoloniaX has kindly offered to donate another raffle prize this year, all the way from Bremen. This year the prize will include a snow leopard dragon (the committee are hoping not a real one!), a book about dragons and lots of chocolate from Germany (to feed the dragon).

Uncon Quilt

Arguably the most crafty member of the committee Ally1665 has been working her socks off for the last few months creating the most unique prize available in the raffle. Ally has stitched and sewn a beautiful one-of-a-kind Leeds themed quilt which one lucky BookCrosser will be able to take home to hang on their wall, decorate their bed, or simply use to keep their feet warm.

BookCrossers Fighting Poverty

Our treasurer ardachy has put together a truly worth prize, celebrating the generosity of the BookCrossing community. This unique prize will include a £15 gift voucher for lendwithcare, a £10 gift voucher for Deki, a Kiva.org geocoin as well as a selection of books around the theme of supporting people to help themselves out of poverty.

Jasper Fforde Prize

In a flashback to his wonderful presentation at the Swindon Unconvention in 2010, Caterinaanna has put together a generous selection of Jasper Fforde goodies. Items include a signed cotton bag, a T-shirt, mug, poster, and tea towel, as well as one or two of his brilliantly funny books.
