About the Author
Robert Twigger is the first confirmed author speaker for the 2013 Unconvention in Leeds. Although he lives in Cairo he has strong links to Leeds has been described as ‘a 19th century adventurer trapped in the body of a 21st century writer’.
Robert’s books celebrate his spirit of adventure, with stories about topics as diverse as chasing the world’s largest python and learning martial arts with the Tokyo riot police. Most of his works describe real-life events that Robert has experienced and demonstrate his love for extreme exploration.
In addition to his books, Robert has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines and has published several collections of poetry including one in collaboration with Doris Lessing. His work has won him several awards, including the Newdigate prize for poetry, the Somerset Maugham award for literature, and the William Hill Sports Book of the Year award.
